As an accomplished musician and music industry professional, Martin Backhausen brings several decades of experience and expertise. Over his illustrious 30-year career, he has been a member of several bands that span across genres. With musical instrumentation at the core, he is adept at several instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, trumpet, and tuba. Whether it's at home, in the studio, or in the community — he is driven by his commitment to family, music, and creativity.

Today, Martin Backhausen uses all of his musical experiences as a talented music producer, songwriter, and musician. When he isn't in the studio, he enjoys jam sessions and developing his most important artists — his children. He also still finds time to offer pro bono music lessons, volunteer at his local Boys and Girls Club, and serve as the leader of his church's praise team.

Professional Career

Backhausen is a professional musician, songwriter, and music producer with the ability to play musical instruments by ear as well as read music. As with many music producers, he started his professional career as a musician as a member of his church's youth praise team. He immediately stood out because of his ability to play the guitar, piano, and drums.

With his talent on full display, Backhausen and a few close friends started an 80's rock band where they played covers of popular music. The band was frequently booked at popular nightclubs and venues throughout the region. His cover band was even invited to open for top-selling artists that would pass through the region. From the 80’s rock band Martin Backhausen forayed into punk rock and pop music during the late 90s. After playing bass in a jazz band, Martin then tested his mettle in the world of R&B and neo-soul. It was here that he truly fine-tuned his writing and music composition skills.

Today, Backhausen leverages his unique cross-genre experience to cross-breed sounds and compose music for almost every sector. Whether it's punk rock, R&B, country music, neo-soul, or any other genre that centers on vocals, he is the premier go-to music producer. In this capacity, he works with some of the highest-profile artists to arrange compositions, manage recording sessions, and even offer suggestions and enhancements to musical effects, instrumentation, and lyrics. When Martin isn't managing budgets for projects, overseeing musical arrangements, or writing songs, he enjoys discovering and helping develop new talent.

Academic Background

Unlike many musicians, Martin Backhausen boasts the unique ability to play music by ear. As such, he can simply hear a song or sound and create it with multiple instruments. While his sheer talent has always qualified him as a premier musician, he attended Full Sail University to solidify his status as a classically-trained musician, musical composer, and producer. He received his Music Production Bachelor's Degree from Full Sail University back in 2004. This B.S. program was centered around providing Backhausen with a comprehensive understanding of music production and creation. He also learned various foundational concepts and recording principles that have proven paramount throughout his career. He also actively trains and has received certifications for different digital audio workstations (DAWs), including Ableton Live, Image-Line FL Studio, Apple Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase, and more.

After earning his B.S. from Full Sail University, Backhausen continued his education at Berklee Online with a Master of Music in Music Production. This graduate program combined the most innovative, creative music production techniques with the power of DAW-based music technology. The program educated Backhausen in advanced mastering, mixing, and recording. The program also worked on key areas, such as business sustainability for independent producers, audio for visual media, and vocal production. Today, he combines his natural musical talent with his formal education to create magic in and outside of the studio.

Personal Life

For Martin Backhausen, the music never stops! In 2004 as he was composing music for an up-and-coming artist in the Orlando, FL area, he met .a young cinematography student who would soon be his wife. The two immediately struck a chord and had an instant intonation. While his wife, Brenda, was geared more toward film and cinema, the two shared a deep love and passion for the arts and creativity. After getting married in 2009, Martin and Brenda welcomed their first child — a son — in 2013. Then in 2015, the Backhausens welcomed a set of boy and girl twins into the fray.

As anyone would assume, the Backhausens are a very musical and artistically inclined family. his oldest son, James, follows in his father's footsteps and has a high propensity for music. James often frequents the recording studio with his father and has a deep interest in the art of musical composition and production. While the twins are just still young, they are both extremely active in the local little theater and host their very own YouTube Channel that is quickly developing an avid following.
